Politics, especially at the national level, has become a good 'ol boy network of the rich. They try to convince the rest of us that their core value is to protect us when what they are really doing is protecting the businesses and special interest groups that give them the most donations. With no term limit restrictions, and being under a constant barrage big business and special interest lobbyists, Senators and Representatives lose contact with their constituents and their job. In order to keep their job they must be able to raise enough money to be able to convince us what a great job they are doing so we will re-elect them. Of course the majority of their money comes in donations from big business and special interest groups. It has gotten to the point that the people being elected are only the ones who have the ties (and obligations) to big business and special interest groups. It is a vicious circle which reduces our voting choices to choosing the least harmful candidate rather than the one who will do the best job.

To many it may seem futile to try and change this system, after all you "can't fight city hall." However, fighting "city hall"  is how this country was started. Our founding fathers had the foresight which allows us, "we the people," to make changes if it became necessary. Article V of our Constitution provides for making amendments to the Constitution, which contains terms, term limits, and requirements for eligibility of our elected Washington officials. We are allowed to petition our state legislators to call for a Constitutional Convention to make amendments to the Constitution. A Constitutional Convention may  be held when applied for by two thirds of the state legislatures, and the change is made when ratified by three fourths of the states.
In order to accomplish this, we need to do several things. So that we may communicate on these issues, you need to join in on my forum page.
  1. Get a volunteer in each state to discover how many signatures will be needed in each state to be recognized by their legislature.
  2. Have a volunteer in each state to receive petitions and send them into their state's Secretary of State.
  3. Have people circulate the petitions in all fifty states (making sure that all signers are registered to vote in the state they are signing in).
The first petition is calling for term limits on elected officials in Washington, DC. You may download this petition here

The second petition (which will be fought tooth and nail by the establishment and attorneys) is to prohibit attorneys from holding office as a senator, representative, or president.  You may download this petition here.
